HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OUT OF UNIVERSITY LIFE:

University life is perhaps the most important stage in a student’s life because it prepares him for the challenges which he has to face in his practical life. Sadly, majority of the students fails to realize the importance of these four years and instead of improving their skills, they waste these four years.

University life is not about improving your grades only but improving your overall personality. This is best time in a student’s life to polish his confidence, leadership, communication, networking and other skills which will be a distinguishing factor between him and the others.

1)      SELF-LEARNING: The course taught at university is enough for a student to get good score in examination but in actual it doesn't teaches him in depth about the topic. So self-learning is most important. There are many resources available now a days such as online websites such as edx.org, coursera.com, udemy.com, Alison.com and others which offers free online education on different subjects. If you really want to master the subject then you have to read books and search about the topic yourself.

2)      COMMUNICATION SKILLS: communication skills are the key to success. Your 90% of success depends on the ability to successfully communicate with others. A good communicator is not the one who is fluent in English but instead if you are able to communicate your words in a way that other person clearly gets your message then you are a good communicator.

Communication skills are directly linked with confidence. Lift your confidence up to improve these skills.

3)      NETWORKING SKILLS: Building professional relationships with seniors of your field is perhaps the most important thing a student should do. Seniors can help you in getting an intern-ship, in your university related matters or even can help you in getting a job. So build a “professional relationship” with them.  

4)      DIFFERENT: There will be around 2000 students graduating with you. They will be having a bachelor’s degree too. What’s the difference between them and you? So, you must have other capabilities which will distinguish you from others. Such as, if a person is graduating from electrical engineering, has a knowledge of other fields such as business related. So an interviewer would select the person who has only electrical knowledge or a person having electrical+ business knowledge?

This is one example. It could be anything. Any skill which distinguishes you from the rest of the others. Any hobby even photography skills can make you different from others. So its up to you to explore yourself, what is the one thing that makes you special from others. Focus on polishing those skills in these four years too.

This is the best time for you to improve your personality. It’s up to you to waste these four years or make the most out of them.
